AGM and Pig on a Spit
AGM at 2pm on Sunday 27th February. Fill out the attached questionnaire and be in with a chance to win an overnight for two in Brooklodge (sent by e mail to members). A treat not to be missed.
This is a chance for you as a member to take part in the organising, running and planning of events throughout the year and to have your say in what Slowfood means to you. The main event being planned for this year is Slow and Wild which will take place in Aughrim on 12 and 13th November. This is an exciting event and a true reflection on what Slowfood is all about. Come along to the AGM and let us know how you can take part in the organising of this unique outdoor festival. We will be covering recognition of wild foods, harvesting tips, preserving tips using traditional methods and outlining what is available, where and from when onwards. We will also be explaining what other stakeholders from the community are on board for this and how each of these have roles to play in this landmark event. (Agenda to follow shortly)
Wild & Slow
Wild & Slow is intended to be a Winter festival on the closed-off main street of pretty Aughrim, with blazing log fires and hot mulled wine. There will be game handling and tasting workshops during the weekend, a wild food market open to all to participate in selling your own foraged and wild harvested goodies, a wild food photographic competition, foraging lectures, game and wine matching workshops and much more besides..
Pig on Spit
Following the AGM – a sumptuous feast of Certified Organic Pork raised nearby on Gold River Farm, and slow roasted on a spit will be had by all – you will get to learn about the whole process of preparing a pig for consumption, and get to do some spinning/cooking and even a little carving! BYOA ( bring your own apron!)
